I got a chance in Cochin to get out and do some shopping. A traditional piece of clothing here is called a dothi. It's simply a long piece of cloth you wrap around yourself like a bath towel. It's similar to the lungi found on the other side of the country in Chennai. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lungi

So, since they looked comfy, I had someone from the station take me out to a fabric/clothing store to pick one up. I found a nice one for 450 Rs, or about $10. Also picked up a pair of trousers and a nice fancy kurtha.

The store we went to is famous for its silk, especially the saree. The picture shows only a small bit of the saree showroom.
