South Africa was a blast! It was wonderful to meet Nicole's family. Her parents were very kind and welcoming, and Nicole's sister Michelle and her husband Marc have made it on to my list of favorite people.

We had a chance to ge tout to do some sight-seeing, but not much. One day trip was to Hermanus, which reminded me a lot of Carmel. Beautiful country, and good timing as the whales were supposed to be there for their "season". We may have seen a whale (we were trying so hard to see one the shadows in the waves looked quite whale-like), but I don't know if we had a good sighting or not.
